I have struggled with my weight since my early 30’s; as a health professional, I thought I knew what I should be doing but was still not able to keep the weight off. With each year another half stone or so would pile on. I have osteoarthritis and the extra weight was not helping my condition – When I was 50, I was told I would need a hip replacement.

I’d pretty much tried everything to address my weight; slimming tablets, a gastric balloon and 4 years ago, a gastric band. Nothing reduced my weight by more than a stone or so.

During researching the low carb way of eating, I found my way to Low Carb in the UK and decided to “give it a go”.

The first thing I was struck by was the depth and breadth of Nikola knowledge on nutrition, biochemistry and the influence of hormones on the body. She also feels strongly about the power of language and its influence on motivation and doesn’t shy away from challenging her clients’ use of language if she feels it to be disempowering.

Nikola kept me motivated with her passion and knowledge of her subject, her amazing recipes and her positive ability to empower and enable her clients to take control of their choices. Slowly but surely, the weight has dropped off and so far I have dropped 2 1/2 stone in weight. I have also now been discharged from the orthopaedics and no longer require medication.

I am 61 and feel better than I did a decade ago!

7lb ditched in a fortnight after months and months and MONTHS of struggling to get back in the LCHF zone. This group (the Low Carb in the UK Facebook group) has been instrumental in changing my mindset. The concept that has particularly helped has been to ‘make each mouthful/meal as optimal as you can, given the situation you are in’. (The third tenet)

This has been enormously helpful in getting me past the ‘all or nothing’ attitude I had before i.e. if I couldn’t eat ‘proper’ low carb, I’d not even try to. Get the mind working positively and the effects on the body will follow. I’ve had an unhealthy relationship with food all my life. I’m finally believing that I can fix this. Thank you Nikola.

Update: I found the session very interesting. I knew about the technique you used as I’ve read lots, though, as I said, putting it into practise independently is not so easy. I thought you took me through it well and were very good at listening to what I was saying. As you probably recall, I wanted to give up carby non alcoholic fizzy wine and we used beetroot as the disliked food. After I finished the session with you (I was sitting in bed) I finished my glass of fizzy wine! Oh well, that didn’t work, hey ho, I enjoyed it though…

Two weeks on, I haven’t touched a drop since….. from Wednesday onward I stopped, not conscientiously, just happened. I didn’t even have my substitute, didn’t get that until the following Sunday, so it’s definitely worked. In fact, my eating is on target, very little carb, all good food and whenever I fancy something unhealthy carb wise, I think of beetroot. So if you want to use this as a testimonial, feel free, it’s honest and truthful.

Excellent food table for easy meal planning. You can use this as your daily guide and then upload the info into something like My Fitness Pal so you can track your macros if you want to. Highly recommended!

As we all know information on the internet can be conflicting and it’s hard to know what to believe. Nikola is always my go to person, she’s an absolute fountain of knowledge. I don’t really trust everything I read on line but I absolutely trust her advice 100%.

She’s such a kind caring person who’s willing to give all her time to help other people. This lady knows how the body works better than anyone and I’d highly recommend her to everyone.
